A useful reward ladder
| Tier | Purpose | Check before publishing |
|---|---|---|
| No reward | Support the work because it matters to you | Say clearly that no product or financial return is included. |
| Digital / thank-you | A low-cost way to join in | Confirm the content, delivery method, privacy, and date. |
| Core product | The main item or experience | Cost, production capacity, shipping zones, taxes, and support. |
| Limited bundle | A defined package or small group offer | Set a real quantity limit based on capacity; show what is included. |
| Behind-the-scenes / community | Access or participation | Set boundaries, dates, moderation, and privacy expectations. |
Price total fulfillment cost
For each tier, estimate unit cost + packaging + postage + payment/platform fees + taxes + support time + expected replacements. Then compare the resulting contribution with the amount left for the project itself. If it does not work, change the tier, geography, quantity, or campaign goal before launch.
- Use real photos of the prototype and label mockups as mockups.
- State whether shipping is included, how destinations are handled, and which places you can deliver to.
- Give a month or range when uncertainty remains; do not imply a dispatch date is guaranteed.
- Keep enough time after funding for production, quality checks, and customer support.
Plan a change before it happens
Write a short response plan for supplier delays, a failed test, or costs rising. Name who will tell supporters, how frequently updates will arrive, what alternatives you can offer, and how you will handle refunds or cancellations under the applicable terms. Clear risk planning protects both the creator and the backer.
